1. The Club shall be named “The Swansea Metal Detecting Club”
2. Affiliated to the
“National Council for Metal Detecting”
3. The Club shall exist to foster the kindred
hobbies of metal detecting, coin and relic collecting.
4. Club Meetings shall be as
follows; Fortnightly on a Wednesday.
4a. An nnual General Meeting will be held at
which Club Officials shall be elected, and a statement of the current financial position
of the Club will be announced.
4b. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called,
but must abide by the quorum ruling (i.e. must consist of at least 25% of the paid
up membership, 2 of which must be Club Officials.)
5. The Club Committee shall consist
of Chairman. Vice Chairman. Secretary. Treasurer and three others.
6. The two membership
cards shall be carried by all Club Members whilst detecting, that is the S.M.D.C.
Membership Card and the National Council for Metal Detecting card, which has proof
of Insurance written on the reverse.
7. Membership fees will be due on the 1st. January
annually or ‘Pro Rata ‘. The fee will include the Affiliation fee to the NCMD.

Club Members shall abide by the National Council for Metal Detecting Code of Conduct,
the Countryside Code and also observe the requirements of the Law in respect of the
Treasure Act. 1996 as amended.
9. Members joining the club by paying subscription
fees and accepting the membership cards are deemed to abide by these rules and any
subsequent rule or amendment to a rule.
10. Club Funds shall be lodged with the Santader
Building Society. Two designated members be authorised to make withdrawals via debit
cards held in thier names, as sanctioned by at least 3 members of the Committee.
The paying in book to be held by the Treasurer.
11. The Committee shall reserve the
right to discipline, suspend or eject, without the return of fee, any Member brought
before it, having flagrantly or deliberately breeched the spirit or intention of
Club Rules.
12. The Club advises members that anything found of historic or archaeological
importance, and believed to be over 300 years old, that it be voluntarily recorded
under the Portable Antiquities Scheme via the Finds Liaison Officer at the National
Museum or va the PAS representative at The Glamorgan and Gwent Archaeological Trust,or
thier nominee.
13. CLUB RALLIES. All necessary search permission and contracts to
be obtained where appropriate prior to outings. Each participating person will pay
the current £5 rally fee at the commencement of the rally.
Unless otherwise stated,
permission will be for the day in question only, members will not assume ‘Carte Blanche’
for subsequent searches. This does not apply to the ‘finder’ of the site, who can
search there at anytime, landowner permitting.
14. The Club accepts New Members who
are also members of other Metal Detecting Clubs, providing they pay the appropriate
SMDC membership fee and accept the NCMD insurance card irrespective of them possibly
having Insurance through FID (Federation of Independent Detectorists). If already
in possession of NCMD insurance when joining the SMDC then the SMDC fee will be adjusted
accordingly. These persons would be expected to attend at least 6 SMDC Club meetings
per year.
15. Should the Club’s services be required by any Police Authority, members
should take instructions from the Officer in Charge.
